Wind Chamber Laboratory

This lab consists of a one-of-a-kind wind modular chamber that has clear acrylic walls for easy visualization of experimental setups and fluid flows around structures. This lab is currently used to teach basic fluid dynamics principles and to explore applications of fundamental engineering knowledge into integrated engineering systems such as HVAC, Wind Turbines, Geothermal and Solar.

This fully automated wind chamber will have the capability of controlling the wind speed to the desired velocity in the test section. The in-house built 3-axis hotwire anemometer mounted into a robot will help students to quickly map the wind chamber during their labs and to learn the application of multidisciplinary engineering principles into integrated engineering design.
